Great for learning to count and learning different bugs。 A few simple facts about bugs are sprinkled throughout the book as well。 Encourages exploration and movement such as wiggling like a worm。

I really like this series for preschoolers, but even my 7mo son likes them (the colors and illustrations are great)。 My 3yo son especially liked this one and it's a little more interactive than most of the other books in this series I really like this series for preschoolers, but even my 7mo son likes them (the colors and illustrations are great)。 My 3yo son especially liked this one and it's a little more interactive than most of the other books in this series 。。。more

So I like the story because it has different levels of reading。 I read only the big words to my son and I read both big and little words when I read it to my daughter。 This makes the book fast for a toddler and more in depth for a preschooler。 It has fun facts, cool pictures, and lots of ways to incorporate movement with the kids。

Board book highlights common bugs in colorful collage illustrations。 Large, simple text points something out about the featured bug, sometimes asking a question or prompting the reader to do something (point at ladybug's spots; wiggle like a worm。) Each page also has an asterisked bug fact in smaller text, so works well on multiple levels。 Board book highlights common bugs in colorful collage illustrations。 Large, simple text points something out about the featured bug, sometimes asking a question or prompting the reader to do something (point at ladybug's spots; wiggle like a worm。) Each page also has an asterisked bug fact in smaller text, so works well on multiple levels。 。。。more

This book is pretty cool。 I already know most of these bugs from other books, but that means I get to flip through and point them out to Mommy。 I even noticed the tiny butterfly on the spine。

My girl learned how to wiggle from side to side from reading this book so much。 There is the "wiggle like a worm" page that is one of our favorites。 So we must wiggle like a worm! Now whenever anyone says wiggle, that's what she will do! There are a few pages that don't hold her attention as much, I'm pretty sure I've only seen the grasshopper page once or twice, but the bee page is another fav。 My girl learned how to wiggle from side to side from reading this book so much。 There is the "wiggle like a worm" page that is one of our favorites。 So we must wiggle like a worm! This series is so fantastic for the text, bright illustrations, and extra longer bits of information。 They check out a lot at our library, too, so I'm working on getting the whole collection。 This series is so fantastic for the text, bright illustrations, and extra longer bits of information。 They check out a lot at our library, too, so I'm working on getting the whole collection。 。。。more

For: bug fans; readers wanting a book with bright illustrations and fun nonfiction facts thrown in。Possible red flags: could be too long for some readers。

I loved the bright colors in this book。 I loved how it talked about the most common bugs that children might see。 I loved the simple facts about the insects。

My only complaint is that it doesn't touch on a prevalent backyard bug for me - the CICADA! My only complaint is that it doesn't touch on a prevalent backyard bug for me - the CICADA! 。。。more

simple yet educational

The illustrations are a bit too abstract (the styling is like imperfect paper cutting)。 The story was a bit plain and hard to read/sing/play, so my infant never demonstrated interest。

Super cute for younger children。 It’s a book that you can count, it’s a easier read for this that are learning, and a book you can talk about easily with your young one。 My little one was able to name different animals in our backyard after we read it。

This book incorporates a little of everything。 You have interaction, telling a child to do something on the page。 You have your story。 And you have little facts to teach the child about each bug mentioned。 The colors are bright and lovely。

Hello, World! Backyard Bugs is a book about the bugs you can find in your very own backyard。 The book introduces us to bees, dragonflies, spiders, grasshoppers, crickets, lady bugs, ants, worms, caterpillars, and butterflies。 The illustrations are bright and imaginative and somewhat reminiscent of Eric Carle’s style。 A fun fact about the bug is included on the page。 I chose this board book because the bugs included are those that children can find in their backyards or neighborhood parks。 Some c Hello, World! a great book to read to young readers, colorful and informative。

Jodi

Bright illustrations & factual information for toddlers。

Mary Peble

A good introduction to bugs every young child in North America should know。 Promotes outdoor play, curiosity, and a positive attitude about bugs。

Samantha Munoz

Both informative and eye catching - learn about backyard bugs (we like the fact that you can read it quickly by focusing on the large text or learn more interesting facts by reading the smaller captions)。 This will be a good one for the next few years!

Miss Sarah

I love this book about bugs that we see in everyday life and the sounds or movements they make。 Simple enough for any age group。 I could see my little ones making the sounds and doing the movements and I loved the nonfiction additions。
